A Balance of Harmonies: Siblings

I’m not used to getting culture references that no one else does, but the other day my daughter showed me the ToddintheShadows video for “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry. ToddintheShadows reviews music and his videos are always interesting even when I would never listen to the song he reviews. As the video played with his commentary, I knew I recognized the imagery. A girl and her brothers take a boat down to the river, she gets in and the boys push her off. But the boat springs a leak and fills with water and she has to be rescued.

The girl even has a book of Tennyson in her hands as she travels downstream. ToddintheShadows got the Lady of Shallot reference, but missed (along with all the commenters) that she was the Lady via Anne. I almost want to register so I can point this out. He also asks what kind of girl plans her own funeral. He obviously didn’t read the same books I did.
