Work has ambushed me. I come in first thing tomorrow to cover for someone else. But really, I couldn’t have written this weekend anyway. The only time I put pen to paper (or the computer equivalent) this week was yesterday afternoon when I wrote the first page of a story summary about a boy who discovers his power of taking and magnifying the magic of others when a group of soldiers plus a royal wizard try to remove the villagers before they raze his village to make way for a royal something or other.

And then I fell asleep for sixteen hours.

Master list

Peregrine herded his men into their hotel room and closed the door. “I have an idea.”

They both turned to him. Kurt bowed. “Your wish…”

Peregrine smiled. He loved both of them. “Emil came up with a great idea for a painting. He is Andromeda tied to a rock, I’ll be Perseus and you’ll be Cetus the sea creature, rising from the water.”

Kurt grinned and his eyes glittered. “Sounds nice.”

“Very, but much as I agree, we aren’t going to find the perfect beach over the weekend when my family wants to spend time with us. So I thought we could act it out here and I’ll find the perfect setting later. So, Princess, go get ready, but keep your clothes on. Andromeda gets stripped.”

After Emil slipped into the bathroom, Peregrine pulled out a length of natural rope he’d found on the side of the rode that morning. It was well used enough to be soft and flexible. “Where should we tie him up?”

Kurt looked the rope over. Then he looked around the room. “The headboard? Standing up?”

Peregrine grinned. “Exactly.”

“And we’ll use slip knots so he can get out if he needs to.” Kurt twisted his hands and made a knot.

Peregrine tested it. The knot would tighten if pulled on, but could be loosened easily. They had to pull out the bed to find a place to attach the rope, but they succeeded. Emil stepped out of the bathroom, as beautiful as ever. Peregrine took his hand. “Sorry, Princess, but to get the feel of the story, we are going to tie you up for a while.”

Kurt and Peregrine stripped Emil and led him to stand on the bed where they slipped the rope onto his wrist. He pulled and tightened the rope a bit. “And I just stand here, feeling exposed, while you get ready?”

“Exactly. Kurt, take off your shirt. All mermen need bare chests.”

Kurt opened his bag. “This is the perfect time for pajama bottoms. I will be right back.”

He blew Emil a kiss. Emil lifted his hand as far as he could. Peregrine smiled. Everything would soon be in place. This afternoon was going to be one to remember.

--

Kurt opened his eyes. Sex in the afternoon might just be the best. He wasn’t tired and they didn’t have anywhere to go for hours and when they did it would be to eat. He pulled Emil closer to him in their pretend underwater grotto of a bed. Emil nuzzled against him. “That was wonderful.”

“I agree. Where is Peregrine?”

“We heard your belly rumble, so he went to get you a snack. He will probably sketch us when he gets back.”

Kurt caressed Emil’s thigh. “I’m so glad you’re here, with me.”

Emil rolled onto his back and smiled. “I love you too.”

Kurt kissed Emil’s neck and his collarbone and moved down. Emil hummed and gasped and hardened under him. Kurt really did have the best lovers on earth. Peregrine would be back soon, and Kurt knew just how to keep himself and Emil occupied until he did.

--

Emil sat back with a sigh. The pizza was good and so was the company. Elessar sat on his lap, explaining to Kurt why lilac was his favorite color and how it was better than every other color in the world. Kurt nodded in all the right places as he ate yet another slice of his double stuffed all meat pizza. Going out had been a good idea. Arwen sat on Kurt’s other side and tried her hand at drawing. She wasn’t Peregrine’s level, but she wasn’t too bad. Kurt set his pizza down, wiped his hands, and asked for her pencil. He erased one line and traced when it should go. When she fixed it, the picture came together.

Then he turned back to Elessar. “That’s almost Emil’s favorite color. His purple is darker and a little bluer.”

He pointed at his tie. “This dot is Emil’s color.”

Elessar slid into Kurt’s lap and examined the tie. Éowen smiled at them. “He fits right in with you two. Have you ever considered having kids?”

“We have an open home, for kids in transition, but I don’t think I’d ever want one of my own. As cute as you are,” said Kurt. “I’d rather be big brother or uncle to dozens than father to one.”

Plus Peregrine wouldn’t like it very much. Neither would Emil really. He wanted his men with a few distractions as they could get away with. They already had enough with family and jobs. He didn’t want anything added to it. Kurt smiled at him and took his hand. Maybe he felt the same way.

--

Peregrine hustled his men into the car; otherwise they would have talked to Éowen and Harrison in the parking lot for hours, using up too much of Kurt’s finite time with them. Peregrine had to draw. He had to paint. And he wanted to do that in the room where his men were making love. When the condo was remodeled, the wall between his studio and their bedroom had better open wide, but also lock as he didn’t want the people he painted to have access to their den of love.

--

Kurt rolled over and pulled Emil against his chest. Peregrine painted intensely. His face glowed with energy and his eyes blazed. Kurt couldn’t get enough. Emil rubbed against him. “You like what you see.”

Kurt caressed Emil’s side. “He is so beautiful. It’s hard to grasp that he’s actually mine.” He nuzzled Emil’s neck. “Ours. He’s ours.”

Emil turned in his arms. “He is and you are. I can’t wait until we are all home.”

“I can’t wait until we have our bedroom right next to Peregrine’s studio and a bathroom just off it.” Kurt was tired of putting clothes on before he took his morning shower.

Emil ran his fingers along Kurt’s arm, his eyes never leaving his fingers. Kurt stayed quiet. He could wait for what Emil had to say. Several arousing moments later, Emil sighed and looked up at Kurt. “We need an architect. When Peregrine mentioned using Greg’s students, I shot him down.” He took a deep breath. “But I’ve changed my mind.”

Kurt kissed Emil’s shoulder. “You don’t have to.”

“I know, but if I avoid Greg, I almost feel like I’m being threatened by him, but I’m not, I am?”

Kurt smiled. “No. Greg can’t take anything from you. We are never leaving.”

“And we could always choose students Greg didn’t like…”

Peregrine laughed and turned to them. “Those are the best students. I have a few names of kids he should have encouraged more. We could call them. No need to talk to Greg at all.”

Emil rolled onto his stomach. “But even if we had to talk to him, it wouldn’t matter.”

Kurt ran his hand down Emil’s back. “Should I contact them when I get back?”

The sooner they started remolding, the sooner Kurt could lie in his own bed and watch Peregrine paint at home.

“Let me get you their info.” Peregrine looked down at the paintbrush in one hand and pallet in the other.

Kurt waved his hand. “Morning is soon enough. Did Greg ever come down? Mike said something about it.”

Peregrine shook his head. “He said he was, but I haven’t seen him. Not that I mind. Dad won’t let him in the house anyway. Why can’t he bi like Harrison is: monogamous with the women he’s with?”

Kurt played with Emil’s hair. “Everyone is different. Hasn’t anyone asked you why you need the both of us?”

Peregrine grinned. “Mom knows why I need both of you, she just doesn’t understand why you agree.”

Emil sighed and rested his chin on his hands. “I don’t care how he’s bi: Jess plus a boyfriend, Jess and sex friend, Jess and guys he picks up, or Jess, a boyfriend, sex friends, and hook ups, as long as he gets over you. It’s getting old.”

Kurt nodded. “It was old a dozen years ago when we were in college.”

“I agree.” Peregrine turned back to his painting. “Kurt, should Cetus have a fish tail or a snake’s?”

Kurt rolled out of the bed and walked around to look at the painting. It wasn’t Andromeda. It was Kurt’s dragon sketch from this morning. The blue monkey cuddled close and the Phoenix’s feather’s gleaned in the heat from the dragon’s breath. Kurt waved to Emil. “Come here.”

Emil stepped into Kurt’s arms and cocked his head then looked at Peregrine. “You painted this while we had sex?”

“I painted this while enjoying the sound of you having sex.”

Kurt set his chin on Emil’s shoulder. “Is that bad? I like it.”

“I like it too, but…”

“But…”

Peregrine frowned. “Did I make it too cartoony?”

They looked adult to Kurt, but then that’s what he’d felt was he drawn it.

Emil sighed.

Peregrine rubbed his shoulder against Emil’s. “Maybe it won’t once I’m finished.”

Emil sighed again. “You guys look fine, but I… Is there any way to make a tiny monkey not look like a baby?”

Peregrine squared his shoulders. “I will do my best.”

And while Peregrine worked, Kurt sketched different tails for Cetus, while Emil leaned against his left arm and watched. Surrounded by the loves of his life – his men and art – Kurt was in bliss.
