I don’t understand people who don’t notice sunrises and sunsets.

The other week I had to be at work at 6am and another woman arrived at the same time. As we got ready to work I watched the end of the sunrise out the break room window that had turned the sky purple and orange and the fluffy clouds pink. She couldn’t have missed it, but a few hours later when I mentioned it, she hadn’t even noticed.

Then a week or so later, the sun didn’t rise until about 6:20. At that time I was standing in front of the windows around the glass doors and basking in the orange glow of the sun that was as big as a fiery basketball at arm’s length, rising from an orange horizon. I spoke to a coworker just before she walked outside, then later I asked if she’d enjoyed the sunrise, but she claims not to have seen it.

Are people really that blind to the beauty around them?
